Disable “Open on hover” News and Interests in Windows 10

How often have you been intensely working on a project on your Windows 10 computer, you move your mouse to the bottom right of your screen, and suddenly the News and interests popup appears, and your concentration is broken? Suddenly, you have gone deep down the rabbit hole, looking at things that have nothing to do with what you were working on, and 15 minutes or hours later, you try to remember what you were doing in the first place. It’s not like we don’t have enough things taking our focus away from what we are or should be doing, so let’s put this pesky demon to rest.

  1. Right-click on any open area on your taskbar. The taskbar is the area that runs along the bottom of your screen.
  2. The menu will open as shown below.
  3. Move your mouse to News and interests title, which will show you the menu on the left.
  4. Click the bottom choice “Open on hover” and uncheck it by clicking on it with your mouse.
  5. Be sure that the check mark or tick next to the Open and hover appears as below.
  6. Click anywhere outside of the menu, and it will go away.

You can still access the News and interests if you click on the weather info (My screen shows Raining Now) at the bottom near the right on the taskbar if you want to see it and go down the rabbit hole, but this time, it’s your choice.
